Our AI promise
We build tools that read your work, so you should know exactly what happens to it. Here is the short version, then the detail.
Last updated
The short version
- The coach explains your pages. It does not write your book.
- We don’t use your writing to train AI models.
- You can export your work and delete it whenever you like.
- The Process Record is a record of what happened here, not a certificate.
What the AI sees
When you run a tool, we send an AI model what that tool needs to respond, and nothing more: the text you selected, or the chapter for chapter-level tools, plus your story notes (genre, point of view, tense, premise and the like) and the project and chapter titles.
A few tools also send a little of the text just before your selection or cursor, so the notes or the continuation fit what came before. Opening Pages reads the first 2,500 words of a chapter; Continue reads the last 2,000 words before the cursor. We don’t send the rest of your manuscript.
Who processes your text
Tool runs go through our own AI gateway, operated by Rocketing, LLC, to one of two providers:
- OpenAI. Runs the tools by default.
- Anthropic. Takes over if the first model is unavailable, so a run doesn’t fail.
We don’t use your writing to train AI models. The AI providers we use process your text to return results and, under their API terms, don’t use it to train their models.
Under their terms, the providers may keep API requests for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring. Their terms are at openai.com/policies and anthropic.com/legal.
What we keep
- Your manuscript. Your chapters and story notes are stored in our database so you can work on them from any device. They are yours.
- Your tool results. Each run’s notes (or generated text) are saved with your project so you can come back to them, along with what the Process Record needs: when, which tool, the credits, and how many words were inserted. The text you sent isn’t stored a second time; it is already in your chapter.
- A technical log at our AI gateway. For up to 90 days, the gateway keeps a log of each request: the tool’s instructions and the response that came back (your notes or generated text). It doesn’t log the manuscript text you sent. The notes it holds include the short quotes they are built on.
- Your credit history. Purchases, monthly allowances and the cost of each run. It holds no manuscript text.
The examples on our pages
The examples on our tool pages are real notes the tools returned on original sample passages we wrote. They are stored with the page: viewing them, or clicking through them, sends nothing to an AI model.
The sample passages were written for testing and belong to no real manuscript. Nothing you do on our public pages is sent to an AI model.
What we don’t do
- We don’t use your writing to train AI models.
- We don’t sell your writing, or use it for advertising.
- We don’t build “write like [a named living author]” features.
- We don’t offer whole-book ghostwriting.
- We don’t claim our tools make your writing “human” or get past AI detectors. We don’t offer detector or bypass tools.
Your control
Coach mode
The default
The AI gives notes and ideas. No tool can insert text into your manuscript.
Co-writer mode
Your choice, per project
You can insert generated text. Every insertion is marked in the editor and counted in the Process Record.
- Export. Export your project whenever you like. Exporting never costs credits.
- Delete. Delete a project whenever you like: its chapters, story notes, tool results and Process Record go with it. To delete your account and everything in it, see how data deletion works.
The Process Record: what it is and is not
It is
For every chapter and for the whole project, a count of words typed here, imported, pasted, or inserted from the generator; plus a log of every AI tool run. You can print it.
It is not
A certification; an AI-detector result; proof that no other software was used; or something agents, editors or contests currently require or review.
It records what happened inside CreativeWriters.ai, and only that. We can’t see work you did in other programs. If a contest or publisher bans AI-assisted work, read their rules and decide for yourself. We don’t claim our tools meet any rule set.
About contests, publishers and platforms
Rules differ, and they change. Some accept AI tools for grammar and brainstorming; some ban any AI assistance; some require disclosure of AI-generated text. Always check the current rules of the place you are submitting to.
An honest word about the models
The AI models we use were built by other companies, trained on very large collections of text, and how that training was done is contested across the industry. We can’t settle that question for you. What we can do is be clear about how we use them: to give notes on your own writing, and to offer ideas, labelled, in a separate place. If that is not a trade you want to make, we understand, and we would rather you know now.
Questions
The formal versions live in our AI policy and privacy policy. If anything here leaves you uneasy, tell us at support or support@creativewriters.ai. We would rather fix the page than have you wonder.
